Support for Your Mental & Emotional Wellbeing
Stress doesn't always stay in the mind. Over time, it can affect sleep, energy, concentration, digestion, muscle tension and how you feel day to day.
At AcuFusion, we take a whole-person approach to mental and emotional wellbeing. Rather than treating one symptom in isolation, we consider how your stress, sleep, physical symptoms and general health may be interconnected.
Acupuncture is used as complementary support and can work alongside care from your GP, counsellor, therapist or other mental health professional.

Why Choose Acupuncture for Mental & Emotional Wellbeing?
People often seek acupuncture when stress or emotional strain has begun affecting other areas of their health.
Our focus is not on replacing established mental health treatment. Instead, acupuncture can provide an additional form of support for relaxation, sleep, physical tension and overall wellbeing.
Support Stress & Overwhelm
Ongoing pressure can leave you feeling constantly switched on or unable to relax. Acupuncture can provide dedicated time to slow down and support relaxation.
Anxiety-Related Symptoms
Restlessness, physical tension and racing thoughts can accompany periods of anxiety. Treatment can complement appropriate medical or psychological support.
Sleep & Relaxation
Stress and emotional strain can make it difficult to fall asleep or switch off at night. Treatment can take your sleep patterns and wider wellbeing into account.
Burnout & Exhaustion
Prolonged stress can leave you feeling physically and mentally drained. We look at the wider pattern, including sleep, energy, tension and lifestyle.
Personalised Acupuncture Support for Mental Wellbeing
Your treatment is tailored around your individual symptoms and overall health rather than following a standard mental wellbeing protocol.
01
Traditional Acupuncture
Fine acupuncture needles are placed at carefully selected points according to your symptoms and individual assessment. Treatment may focus on areas such as relaxation, sleep, physical tension, stress and general wellbeing.
02
Electro-Acupuncture
Where appropriate, gentle electrical stimulation may be added to selected acupuncture points. We will explain whether electro-acupuncture is suitable for you before including it in your treatment.
03
Myofascial Decompression
Stress is often experienced physically as tension through areas such as the neck, shoulders and back. Myofascial decompression uses gentle suction techniques and may be incorporated where physical tension forms part of your wider symptoms.
04
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Where appropriate, Chinese herbal medicine may be discussed as an additional part of your treatment plan. Herbal formulas are individualised according to your symptoms, health history and any medication or supplements you're already taking.

Frequently Asked Questions
Helpful answers for first time and returning patients.

In Chinese medicine, mind and body aren't separate. Emotions are closely tied to the organs: stress and frustration are linked to the Liver, worry and overthinking to the Spleen, and low mood, anxiety and poor sleep to the Heart and what we call the Shen, or spirit. When Qi flows smoothly and the organs are in balance, we tend to feel calm, rested and resilient. When it's stuck or depleted, people often notice tension, restless sleep, low energy or a heavy, flat mood.
Treatment looks for the pattern behind how you're feeling and uses acupuncture to restore balance and support a sense of calm, better sleep and steadier energy. Many people find it deeply relaxing, and it sits comfortably alongside the care you're already receiving from your GP, counsellor or therapist.
-
In Chinese medicine, stress is closely linked to the Liver, which is responsible for the smooth flow of Qi around the body. When stress builds up, Qi can become stuck, and this often shows up as tension in the neck and shoulders, headaches, irritability, digestive changes, poor sleep or feeling constantly wound up.
Many people come to us when stress starts to affect their sleep, energy, concentration or physical wellbeing. Treatment is personalised around how stress is showing up for you, rather than following a standard protocol, and aims to restore the free flow of Qi and support a greater sense of calm.
-
In Chinese medicine, anxiety is often seen as a disturbance of the Shen, or spirit, which is housed in the Heart. Worry, restlessness, a racing mind, palpitations and broken sleep are traditionally linked to the Heart, Liver and Spleen being out of balance, or to Qi and Yin becoming depleted by prolonged pressure.
We look for the pattern behind your anxiety and use acupuncture to calm the Shen and support relaxation, sleep and a steadier sense of wellbeing. It works well alongside your GP or therapist and doesn't replace any care you're already receiving.
-
Yes. Many people find real benefit from acupuncture when they're feeling low or depressed, and it's something we see make a genuine difference in clinic. In Chinese medicine, low mood is often linked to Liver Qi stagnation, where Qi becomes stuck, or to the Spleen and Kidney being depleted, leaving you feeling flat, exhausted and unmotivated.
Treatment is built around your individual pattern and supports sleep, energy and an overall sense of lightness. It works best as part of a wider plan alongside your GP or mental health professional.
-
In Chinese medicine, sleep is closely tied to the Heart and the Shen, which are meant to settle at night. When the mind won't switch off, the Liver is overactive, or Yin and Blood are depleted, people often struggle to fall asleep or wake during the night.
We look at your wider sleep pattern rather than treating insomnia as an isolated symptom, asking about when you wake, how easily you switch off, physical tension, lifestyle and stress levels. Treatment aims to calm the Shen, nourish the Yin and Blood, and support deeper, more restful sleep.
-
In many cases, yes. Acupuncture is commonly used alongside conventional care.
Please tell us about all medication and supplements you're taking, so we can plan your treatment safely. This matters especially if you're also considering Chinese herbal medicine, as herbs are always chosen with your medication in mind. Acupuncture should not replace prescribed medication, and please don't stop or change antidepressants, anxiety medication or any other prescribed treatment without speaking to the healthcare professional responsible for your care.
-
Yes.
Acupuncture can be used as complementary support alongside counselling, psychotherapy and other mental health care.
You don't need to choose between acupuncture and psychological treatment.

Stress can affect people physically as well as emotionally.
Some people notice changes in sleep, energy, muscle tension, headaches, digestion or their ability to relax during periods of significant stress.
We'll discuss both your physical and emotional symptoms during your consultation so that your treatment can take the wider picture into account.
-
No.
Many people attend because they feel stressed, overwhelmed, tense or unable to switch off without having a diagnosed mental health condition.
However, acupuncture isn't a substitute for appropriate assessment. If your symptoms are persistent, severe or significantly affecting your daily life, we may recommend speaking with your GP or another mental health professional.
-
Your first appointment includes a detailed consultation followed by acupuncture treatment.
We'll discuss how you've been feeling, your sleep, energy, stress levels, physical symptoms, general health and any medication or other treatment you're receiving.
Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment methods such as checking your pulse and tongue may also form part of your consultation.
We can then explain the treatment approach and recommend an appropriate schedule based on your individual needs.
-
Acupuncture should not be your only source of support if you're experiencing significant mental health difficulties.
Speak to your GP or a mental health professional if anxiety, low mood or other symptoms are ongoing, worsening or affecting your ability to cope with everyday life.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger of harming themselves or someone else, call 112 or 999 or go to the nearest emergency department. Samaritans can also be contacted free of charge at any time on 116 123.
